Lari Don – author event
March 27th, 2008 by Vanessa
Lari Don is an Edinburgh author whose first book, First Aid for Fairies and Other Fabled Beasts, has just been published by Floris Books. It blends creatures from myth and legend with the Scottish landscape and Helen’s quest to solve a series of riddles and recover the Lost Book before the Winter Solstice. I love the book and am reliably informed by a reader of my acquaintance that there aren’t many fairies and it can be enjoyed by boys just as much as girls!
To celebrate the publication, Lari will be coming to The Children’s Bookshop on Friday 11th April to read from her book, tell one of the traditional tales that inspired her writing and talk to readers. Lari is a professional storyteller and having seen her in action at the launch party it is an event not to be missed – I was absolutely spellbound! Afterwards, she will of course be signing books.
The book is ideal for readers in late primary school and the event starts at 4pm. It’s free but space is limited so you will need to book tickets either in person or over the phone.
Wish I could get there – the title alone is enough to make me want to read it!
